Match 1: Go Team!
The 2008 lawn bowling season started on a high
note with the veteran team of Mike Cahn, Jayne Hammes, Steve Gallagher and Larry
Miller kicking it off with a nice win. Our assets exceeded our liabilities and
Downtown Network beat the friendly accounting firm of McGladney & Pullent, 15 to
11.
New event chair, Donell Cherry met the team for
pre-game warm-up and pep talk. Not sure if it was her executive order of "losing
is not an option" or her threat that the guys would have to wear kilts next year
if we lost that inspired the victory. Or, maybe it could just be attributed to
the experience and knowledge that scoring more points than the other team
results in a win. In any case, Downtown Network is at this time, one game in,
UNDEFEATED in 2008!! Go Team!!
Donell’s Dish:
Thank you Mike, Jayne, Steve and Larry for an all-star performance and for
starting our season off right!! This team has bowled for the Downtown Network
for the last eight years. I knew they had VICTORY up their sleeves; you could
feel it in the air. Jayne’s ruby slippers did make an appearance and I think
they did bring us a bit of winning magic! Cheerio!
