Next Event: May 19 Match
Thanks and congrats to the winning Downtown Network Lawn Bowling team May 12!
We beat McGladrey & Pullen May 12, read the recap here!
The
10th Anniversary of Brit's Lawn Bowling has begun.!
Downtown
Network is in the Scottish League of the Brit's Lawn Bowling Club. Due to
our 2-5 record last year (1 win better than 2006), we are still playing Monday nights.
Match dates and times for 2008 HAVE been confirmed
(see below), but not rink, nor opponent, nor home/visitor. Signup will begin April 30.
Members can play for the Downtown Network team outside on the lawn in the
sunshine. There is a 10-year wait to get into the league!
We are one of the original teams from the first year of lawn bowling in 1998!
All bowlers during league matches must be
Downtown Network members, with all dues paid. (Your guests may watch the
match, as well as hold your table during the crowded nights on the Brit's deck.)
There will be four Brit's Lawn Bowling League
shirts awarded to players.
Downtown Network Lawn Bowling event chair for 2008 is
Donell Cherry. Contact Donell at
dcherry@okabena.com. Thanks to past chair Kim Fealy for her years of
service!
Downtown Network Lawn Bowling is very popular:
-
It is FREE!
-
Members
play only ONE match the whole season
-
There are
only 7 matches to play in
-
There are
only 4 players per team each match
Please wear
white -- this mean shirts and shorts,
(khaki's are allowed).
We can gain up to 2 more
points per match if all four players wear traditional “all-whites”.
We also do a quick
write-up for the web site, as well as take digital images.

All Players Welcome! |
If we throw any bowls that cause depressions, after one
warning, they will be removed from play. (The bowls, not the players!) The
mantra is “Always roll, never throw.”
Lawn bowling is a popular British and Canadian summer pastime. Team members roll
weighted balls that curl before they stop.
The object is to bowl closest to a small
white ball, called the jack, and score points accordingly.
Please wear
white, shirts and shorts; khaki's are allowed.
