The Labor Neighborhood Minneapolis Aquatennial Block
Party is Friday, July 17, 2009!
The Block Party is located between 3rd and 4th
Streets on Nicollet Mall across from the Downtown Library. The Block Party runs
from 5 to 11 p.m. Two local bands, including Rocket Club, will perform.
90s alt-rock favorites the Gin Blossoms, famous for
1992's "New Miserable Experience" and 1996's "Congratulations, I'm Sorry"
recordings, have a new live album, "Live in Concert" released in May, 2009.

The headliner of the Block Party was Blues Traveler!
The New Jersey blues/rockers will be the big show at the Block Party, kicking
off the Minneapolis' official civic celebration.
It's the largest FREE concert in Minnesota, and runs
from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Also on stage will be Tim Mahoney and The Fabulous
Thunderbirds!
The location of the Block Party is again the block
across Nicollet Mall from the Downtown Library.
The Block Party is sponsored by the Minneapolis
Building and Construction Trades Council.

2007 Block Party Info:
The 2007 Block Party was Friday, July 13.
The headlining act was the BoDeans! The Block
Party has a new location, the block across the Nicollet Mall main entrance of
the new Downtown Library, a much bigger block!
The Honeydogs and The Hopefuls performed.
Estimated 1 hour sets for the openers, 1/2 hour breaks, and the BoDeans from
approximately 8:40 to 10:15-10:30.
It is the 30th annual Block Party, the biggest FREE
concert in Minnesota! It runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Friday, July 13.
Many food and beverage booths will line the Block Party area. The Block Party
is presented by the
Minneapolis Downtown Council, and was
sponsored by Central Minnesota and Western Wisconsin Subway Restaurants, City Pages, and WCCO-TV.
The Block Party is the kick-off event of the
Minneapolis Aquatennial.
Downtown Network members have the opportunity to bring friends or
co-workers to staff a beverage booth at the Block Party. All booth
participants receive a Block Party T-shirt and coupons good for food
and beverages. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact

2006 info: Downtown Minneapolis has the biggest Block Party of them
all! The 2006 Subway Block Party headliner was the re-uniting Semisonic.
The 29th annual Block Party is the biggest and
oldest block party in
Minnesota, it is FREE and runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Semisonic is known for their hit, "Closing Time." Also
appearing are 17-year-old Sonya Kitchell,
and the "American Idol" country star Josh
Gracin.
